Amoraim Knew Mishnayos!: Answer

The Turei EVEN rocks. Get it?

Anyway in a previous post I quoted the Turei Even's question. How can the Amoraim assume [megilla 4] that one need not read on purim day. The Mishna says explicity that we read during the day?

The Turei Even answers that one would only have to read during the day if they did not read at night and that is when the mishna requires us to read during the day. But if one already read at night it is no longer necessary to read during the day.
[Of course the conclusion is that both the night and day readings are obligatory.]

On a related note: It is axiomatic that an Amora cannot argue with a Tanna and that a Rishon cannot argue with the Gemara [on Halachic issues]. Far Voos Nicht???? [WHY NOT???? - Alleyways goes trilingual].

I posted a shiur about this question in the Halacha section entitled "Why listen to the Rabbis" but would be indebted to anyone who would further enlighten me on this topic.

I don't chop-then what does the mishna mean that after netz is l'chatchila and after amud hashachar is bdieved-if it's only a tashlumin then before amud hashachar would be kasher l'chatchila because it would still be nite?

PS- Rav Alley Rocks!!!

I would love to argue with shatz.
But since 1] I don't chop either [my wife does it to the onions, liver etc.] and 2] shatz is the TOP student in a world renowned yeshiva [not in Washington Heights] who cannot identify himself because who knows if appearing on a blog will effect his chances of becoming Rosh Yeshiva. He [this I mean seriously] has a better head than I do. If I answer he will definitely prove me wrong. I am honored that such geniuses visit alleyways.

Incidentally [in the purim spirit] - what song do they play as they are taking a sinner out for meesas skila? "We Will We Will Rock You".

Dearest Shatz [also known as YMBMF]

On Shabbos I saw the Sfas Emes who asks exactly your question and he feels so strongly about it that he concludes that the Turei Even made a mistake ["vdivrei shgaga hem"]!!

Now I am CONVINCED that the Sfas Emes was a Gaon Olam. He was mechaven to your kasha!!!!!
