Rav Elya Lopian

Read about an angel who inhabited our world. And don't forget to learn his sefer [Lev Eliyahu]!

Prove It!

For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible.

Stuart Chase

Sweetest friends, I am not a big fan of "proofs" for G-d's existence. The Yerushalmi says that if one needs proofs for something then it is not self-evident. G-d's existence is self-evident. You don't need proofs that YOU exist, do you? G-d existence is a lot more real than you are [no offense].

LIVE G-d, EXPERIENCE G-d, and you will not need proofs. That means to daven with all of your heart, to learn Torah with unwavering intensity, to SEARCH for people for whom you can perform acts of kindness, to spend the 25 hours of Shabbos immersed in spirituality etc. etc.

After you have LIVED G-d then proofs might be interesting - you know, in case you are ever a Madrich/a for Aish Hatorah or something. But don't substitute proofs for the real thing.

It is sad when ALL a person has is a few proofs and he misses out on the EXPERIENCE.

Don't Get Down!

The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall.

Vince Lombardi

Everybody fails from time to time. The way to self-destruct is to get down on yourself after a failure.

Yeush - despair, is the primary tool of the yetzer hara. Don't let him win!

Baby Powder And Marriage

Yakov Smirnoff was a Russian Comic who emigrated to the US. He related that soon after he arrived he was walking in the supermarket and he saw milk powder. You take the powder, add water and PRESTO! you have milk.

Then he saw Orange Juice powder. You take the powder, add water and PRESTO! you have Orange Juice.

Then he saw baby powder. He was moved to exclaim "WHAT A COUNTRY!!!"

G-d gave human beings the Godly power to create another human being. Wow! A man contributes a putrid drop of semen, the woman contributes her egg and Hashem takes over for nine months and then miracle of all miracles - a living breathing, talking, thinking, walking, laughing, [eventually, especially if he hears lots of Yakov Smirnoff jokes] human being emerges.

Part of Hashem's gift is that he made the initial act of creation pleasurable. Western society has taken this Divine act and turned into a means for the constant fulfillment of ones narcissistic desires. It is no longer about creating another human being or showing love to someone else. It is just about me. Me, me, me. That is what the entire media is built upon. Every movie star, television actress, even the female newscasters are supposed to be physically appealing. Recently someone asked me if it is OK to see a "kosher movie". I replied that in the decade or so that I was watching movies I don't recall seeing one where --- was not part of the plot [except maybe for "Mary Poppins" and "Hoosiers". Did you see "Hoosiers"? Awesome!]. Maybe the DVD is kosher enough to eat but certainly not to watch. [Whenever I make this point to people they strain themselves to think of a movie where there was no ---. Which just proves my point.]

Kedusha means taking our G-d given ability to procreate and using it EXCLUSIVELY within the framework of the family.

Marriage, after all, is called by our Sages, "Kiddushin".

A Little Bit Of Light Ejects A Great Deal Of Darkness

"Pure Tzaddikim

Don't complain about evil

Rather they add righteousness

Don't complain about heresy

Rather they add faith

Don't complain about ignorance

Rather they add wisdom"

No Place Like Home

Judy White and Steven Black got married. Mazel Tov! Then, a year later, Judy gave birth. What did they name the baby?

Anyway, I am a big advocate of a woman becoming a "Career Woman." A woman must do something productive with her life!

Which career do I mean?

The most noble "career" on earth and at the same time the most underrated and under appreciated. Why are women pressured by society to allow babysitters to raise their children?

What do children need more than anything but air and food? Mommy. Lots of Mommy.

Why deny them that need [barring of course a womans personal need to get a job outside the home for financial considerations or otherwise]?!

Making It Meaningful

Why is a day that we don't eat called a "fast day"?

Because that's what people want it to be.

Sweetest friends! We have a little under three weeks to learn about the Beis Hamikdash and what it meant so that this year our Tisha B'av will be more that just a day that we wish would just end already.

Love and blessings and glad to be back!!!!!!!!!!
