Father Chaim Yankel

Once upon a time there was a jew named Chaim Yankel who decided that in order to get ahead in life it would be worth his while to convert to Christianity and become a priest. So he did and he became Father Christopher O'Rankel.

After his first sermon in church he approached the Cardinal who was present and asked how he did. The Cardinal answered "You were very good. Just one thing - next time don't begin your sermon saying "fellow Goyim".

Moral:If you are a Yid you can't escape it. It is part of your essence. The tragedy of our history is that when Jews did try to escape their Jewishness they were brutally reminded - by their "fellow Goyim".

What about all the pious tzadikim who were avdei Hashem, who were slaughtered throughout history? Also, If this is true why did the "goyim" often make us convert? There were times when they wanted us to convert and would have gladly accepted our conversion.

Dearest Sofdvar

I did not say that Jews are killed ONLY because they strive to be like goyim. Just that it does not help for Jews to mimic the goyim because history has shown time and again that it doesn't make them like us anymore and in their eyes
we remain Jews regardless.

As to why pious Jews have been mercilessly killed - I will give you the best answer I ever heard: I don't know. Humility means [among other things] that one realizes that he doesn't know it all. Since I know nothing about almost everthing and very little about a few things - it is easy for me to be humble. I am secure in the knowledge that God knows why.

When the goyim force us to convert that is precisely what reminds us to that we are Jewish. Also the Nazi's during the Holocaust were not interested in us converting - they even killed converts.

If you'd like to discuss this further feel free to call me.

Sweetest sodvar = Have a great day and much happiness!!!
