Reflections On America

1] So many things for sale.

2] Headline of the NEWS section of the NY Post today read "New York Mess". This means two things. 1] The Mets aren't doing well. 2] People are very interested in complete nonsense. While many on the train I was riding were immersed in their newspapers and the like I saw a Yid deeply engrossed in a sugya. Made me feel that Jews are - well - special. But I didn't say it aloud.

Don't want to upset the locals.

3] Seen a lot of fine Yidden. There are fine Yidden EVERYWHERE, not only in Israel. But there is one spiritual element that you only find in Israel - it simply doesn't exist in Chutz L' aretz.

Namely, Israel.

4] I like the way people here say "Please", "Thank you" and "Have a nice day".

5] The wedding I came to attend [Yaakov and Rochel] was AWESOME!!

HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!

Rebbe, congradulations - you made it onto onlysimchas!

Rav-
I don't know you personally nor have I ever met you but, I read your blog as a source of chizzuk. A friend of mine told me about it and once I started checking I got hooked to it. I just want to share a recent event and hopefully you can help me with what is going on.

Thursday night I was at a wedding at came home late. As I usually do before I go to bed, I set my alarm for shacharis wake up and went to bed. Being that it was late and I havent gotten so much sleep throughout the week, I was extremely tired.
At approx. 7:25 A.M my alarm went off. As I have become accustomed to do, of bad habit of course,I hit the snooze button. Now, I am a person who needs to be at least 10 minutes early to shacharis to prepare, when I am not my davening is affected greatly. So for the 8 AM minyan I set my alarm with enough time to hit the snooze and still have enough time to get dressed and be early enough. However, this was not the case on this erev shabbos. I immediately hit the snooze at 7:25 thinking that I was very tired and should raise the volume on my alarm.
At approx. 1 PM, my mother was worrying that I was sick and came in to wake me up thinking that I had gone back to sleep after minyan.

Rebbe- I need extreme chizzuk! Not for going to minyan or sleeping late because missing minyan has seldom happened in a long time. But, Rebbe- please, I need chizzuk on being able to fulfill the first siman in Shulchan Aruch. How can I face the world and even more so Hashem when I am failing every single day in the first siman of shulchan aruch. Its not like I am failing and missing minyan, even when I fail I am still 10 minutes early to davening. However, I want to live life abiding by every Halacha I know and this is not the case.

My sweet friend you are MUCH too hard on yourself. Just try your hardest and know that Hashem expects no more of you.

Try to get to sleep early which will make it easier to rise on time. If it happens that you don't succeed one day it is not the end of the world. Hashem expects us to fail sometimes. That is why he gave us teshuva.

Be matzliach and Tamid Bisimcha!!!!!!!!!!

Love and blessings
